The new range of products is called Tr\u00e5dfri \u2014 which means \u201cwireless\u201d in Swedish \u2014 and is built around the ZigBee Light Link standard for connected lights (the same as Philips Hue). The system seems to have rolled out to select European countries last fall, but will be seeing a larger release at the end of March.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The core of the Tr\u00e5dfri system is a gateway device that connects to the internet via an Ethernet connection and creates a local Tr\u00e5dfri network to connect local bulbs. Like most of Ikea\u2019s wares, the company is pursing an extremely aggressive pricing scheme, with a base set of the internet gateway, a remote, and two Tr\u00e5dfri bulbs running just roughly $85.40.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IKEA Smart belysning \u2013 Ljus n\u00e4r du pluggar. (It\u2019s also possible that this video is dramatizing things a bit.)
